Service Description
Choose from four exciting days, your young artist will explore a variety of pottery techniques, including slab building, press moulding, hand building, surface decoration, wheel throwing, and sculpture. Undertaking a range of exciting projects. This hands-on experience will allow children to experiment with clay, develop their artistic skills, and create unique pieces to take home. Perfect for creative kids aged 9+ who enjoy exploring their imagination and learning new crafts in a supportive, fun environment. The course is taught by Gemma, a professional potter with over 20 years experience including a teaching diploma and is assisted by the fun and friendly Fiona Cumberland a qualified primary teacher from Ripley Court school. We are fully DBS checked and first aid trained. You can rest assured that your child is in great hands. Each piece created will be fired and ready for you to collect about a month after the course end date, giving you lasting mementos of your child's pottery journey. Fantastic for children applying for art scholarships who's pieces can be added to their portfolio for school applications. If your child can do all 4 sessions you can book the full 4 day course on the 'Kids courses' page. The course runs from Mon 7th to Thursday 10th April and individual days can be booked in the 'Kids courses' page to fit in with your Easter holidays. Courses are popular and so we'd recommend booking asap. We’re excited to welcome your children to the studio! Course instructor: Gemma Wightman and Fiona Cumberland Course duration: 1-4 days, 2 1/2 hours per session Number of participants: maximum 12 Includes: use of electric potter's wheel, clay, tools, apron, refreshments (water, squash, fruit and biscuits. Nut-free studio), 1 piece of pottery per session, fired and glazed for collection. Excludes: Any additional pieces glazing, firing at £5 per piece. Costs for shipping if needed and unable to collect. Cancellation Policy
Please understand that our policies are designed to help us manage the challenges of filling spots at short notice. When this happens, we often incur significant losses throughout the year while attempting to accommodate last-minute changes. Workshop/Class Cancellation (Before Course Start): Due to limited availability, cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 30 days before the course begins in order to receive a full refund or guarantee a transfer to another session. This allows us to try to fill the space. Cancellations must be made via email enquiries@gemmawightmanceramics.com. If you cancel or reschedule within 30 days of the course start date, we can only offer a 50% refund or transfer. We are unable to process cancellations or offer refunds within 1 week of the class starting or after the session has taken place. Class Cancellations/Refunds (After Course Has Begun): Once your sessions have started, we are unable to offer refunds. However, if you are unable to continue due to health reasons or other exceptional circumstances, please reach out to us. We will do our best to find a solution and may, at our discretion, offer to transfer the remaining value to a future workshop or class in the form of a voucher. As each situation is unique, please contact us by email if you’re unable to continue. If We Cancel Your Course/Workshop: In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a course, you will receive a full refund. If possible, we will provide at least 5 days' notice. If the course has already begun, we will reimburse you for the remaining sessions if rescheduling is not feasible for both parties.
